Artist at Sea Exhibition with the Schmidt Ocean Institute

Art and ocean science meet as Nautilus teams up once again with the Schmidt Ocean Institute. This collaboration will showcase the mesmerizing works from the Schmidt Ocean Institute’s Artist-at-Sea program, with exhibits spanning both Frost Science and Art Basel Miami Beach at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Continuing the tradition from their prior showcases at the Explorers Club in March 2022 and the Lisbon UN Ocean Conference in June 2022, attendees can expect breathtaking artworks inspired directly from the explorations of the Schmidt Ocean Institute’s Falkor (too) research vessel.

“The Blue Paradox”

The award-winning immersive experience from the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago is coming to Miami. “The Blue Paradox” is more than just an educational exhibit—it’s a visceral journey into the depths of the ocean’s majesty, its importance, and the looming threats of the plastic waste crisis. The Frost Planetarium promises an enthralling, full dome first-person preview of this experience during Miami Art Week.

Nautilus Lounge at Art Basel Miami Beach

Nautilus and UNESCO will present a series of works from the Schmidt Ocean Institute’s Artist-at-Sea program. The exhibition in collaboration with Schmidt Ocean Institute will present some of the latest pieces from their international Artist-at-Sea program, which hosts residencies for artists to participate in ocean science. The collection welcomes new pieces from Max Hooper Schneider, Taiji Terasaki, Michel Droge, Robert Stackhouse, and Rebecca Rutstein, among others.

An Evening of Film with the Schmidt Ocean Institute

Join us for an evening of short films in the Frost Science planetarium, exploring the ocean and cutting edge research surrounding it. Including the award winning shorts Climate Under Pressure, The Art of Exploration, and more. The screening will kick off with a live connection with research vessel Falkor (too), and close with a Q&A.

The Intersection In Collaboration with OMEGA and Viking Cruises

As the sun sets on December 6, the Frost Museum will come alive with the mellifluous strains of the first Nautilus/UNESCO Concert for the Ocean. With actor, writer and ocean activist Matthew Modine as the Master of Ceremonies, this musical delight will be the perfect crescendo to the Opening Reception of Nautilus and UNESCO at the Frost Science Museum/Art Basel Miami.
