Description

Nautilus Issue 57 is an exploration of a concept many of us take for granted—the very nature of reality. We turned to Almost Free Services, the label of French designer Mathieu Courbier, to create an exclusive reality-themed t-shirt for Nautilus readers. “The question of ‘reality’ is a complicated one.” Courbier told us. “Depending on science or philosophy or art, the definition of reality can start with the idea of an object, or by the object itself—but it can also be the shadow of it.”

The egg, which Courbier called “a symbol of life and mystery,” was the inspiration for his design. “The egg is a symbol of life, the becoming of life,” he told us. “The oval suggests the infinity, rebirth, and regeneration of life. I think it’s a good parallel with the concept of reality that needs to be redefined because of technology, the evolution of science, and the social back and forth between a more natural life and a more connected life where nature is abandoned.”

You can now get 1 of 50 of these limited-edition Reali-Tee Shirts. And remember, while you can always question the fabric of reality, the fabric of this t-shirt is unquestionably comfortable.
